Outdoor Event Cancellation Policy -- All Groups

Outdoor (usually free) events posted for these groups are usually subject to cancellation in the event of adverse weather conditions. A few will have a contingency plan in the event of rain, but many do not and will not have rain dates. Event notices will have a link posted to this page and information relevant to the specific venue will be included. The following list of known venue/event practices will be revised as necessary: City Parks Events in city parks are subject to cancellation by the Parks Department. Historically, the Parks Department cancels an event about three hours prior to a performance start time. This will be posted on the website of the park hosting the event. A link will be posted to the relevant park's website to allow members to check if there is cause for concern. Washington Square Music Festival This organization has a contingency plan with alternative locations for their concerts in the event of rain. These locations will be provided to members

Organizer and Member Contact Policy

Inquiries about Setting Up Events If you have a performance organization and wish us to have an event at your performance, we must insist that you contact the organizer two to three weeks in advance.  In addition, we would appreciate providing discounted tickets for our members.  Keep in mind that the calendar for this group is planned in advance even though it is not all posted in advance so if you have a limited calendar of performances there may be a conflict. Above all, do not contact us the day before your proffered performance.  These are not Meetup groups that are planned on a last-minute basis. Inquiries about Our Members It is a reasonable assumption that the New York Opera Meetup has professional musicians and singers among its members. The British Film and Television Group may have film professionals.   We welcome them with open arms. If you are a concert promoter, artist agent, or cinema professional and wish to contact any of our members you must do so direc

Ticketing Rules and Policies -- All Groups

For events taking place in opera houses, movie theatres, concert halls, etc., members are responsible for purchasing their own tickets. Purchase links will be provided on the event pages. Discount Codes Effective on 10/6/17 discount codes will be on the event pages, as both groups are currently private.  If the ability to keep a group private is removed by Meetup or if there is any reason for the organizer to make the group public, they will be hidden in the RSVP process in this manner: When you RSVP "Yes", look at the question spaces for this information.  If you forgot the code or wrote it down incorrectly, click "Change" on the RSVP to see it, write it down, then close the window without changing your RSVP.   If this is done in the future it is so that this information will  be kept exclusive to the members of any of my groups.  Any member caught publishing discount codes or other confidential information in the comments section, "Conversations&qu

Opera House and Concert Hall Etiquette 1.  Arrive at least a half hour early so you can be settled before the stated start time. 2.  If you need to leave your seat for any reason during the performance, remember that the venue is unlikely to allow you to resume your seat until the current piece is between movements or has ended.  Major o pera houses will not allow you to resume your seat until intermission. 3.  No food or drink is permitted, especially any that will make any noise.  This is not limited to potato chips. 4.  If you have chocolate, cough drops, or hard candy, remember that crinkling paper will annoy other attendees.  Either unwrap the item in advance or between musical pieces or acts. 5.  No talking during any part of the performance, for obvious reasons. 6.  No leaning your heads together.  This obstructs the view of the person behind you. 7.  If you have a cold, bring cough drops and follow rule #4.  If you have a very runny nose, bring enough tissues to t
