Age Restrictions Minimum age for membership is 18.  Annual Dues These have been suspended, perhaps permanently. General Civilized behavior is required at all times. Anyone posting competing event or alternate performance date information on event pages or who shares discount codes or other confidential information without written permission from the organizer will be expelled from the group with no refund of dues and banned from future membership. Inquiries about Setting Up Events If you have a performance organization and wish us to have an event at your performance, we must insist that you contact the organizer two to three weeks in advance.  In addition, we would appreciate providing discounted tickets for our members.  Keep in mind that the calendar for this group is planned in advance even though it is not all posted in advance so if you have a limited calendar of performances there may be a conflict. Above all, do not contact us the day before your proffered performance.  These are not Meetup groups that are planned on a last-minute basis. The New York Opera Meetup -- Concert Hall and Opera House Etiquette

Opera House and Concert Hall Etiquette 1.  Arrive at least a half hour early so you can be settled before the stated start time. 2.  If you need to leave your seat for any reason during the performance, remember that the venue is unlikely to allow you to resume your seat until the current piece is between movements or has ended.  Major o pera houses will not allow you to resume your seat until intermission. 3.  No food or drink is permitted, especially any that will make any noise.  This is not limited to potato chips. 4.  If you have chocolate, cough drops, or hard candy, remember that crinkling paper will annoy other attendees.  Either unwrap the item in advance or between musical pieces or acts. 5.  No talking during any part of the performance, for obvious reasons. 6.  No leaning your heads together.  This obstructs the view of the person behind you. 7.  If you have a cold, bring cough drops and follow rule #4.  If you have a very runny nose, bring enough tissues to t
